Dubai Government allows concerts and events to run under strict health and safety guidelines

The Government of Dubai has released a directive allowing the resumption of concerts and live events dependent on strict health and safety measures being in place, including full santisation and thermal screening of attendees.

Released yesterday (3rd August), both indoor and outdoor concerts and live events are now permitted in the Emirate, subject to capacity and social distancing regulations being be enforced.

At seated events there must be a minimum of two metres social distancing - meaning one person per 4 metre². Seating must also be laid out here in a chequerboard pattern - including in VIP suites - with two seats to be kept vacant between each group of people, or individuals if not in the same group.

Online ticket purchasing is encouraged, while social distancing markers must be displayed on floors at box offices for queues. There should be a staggered time system for access, while staff and ushers must wear masks at all times. The venue should be left by row numbers via marked walkways and queues for taxis to be marked in line with social distancing guidelines.

Venues must be sanitised every 30 minutes for events of more than 25 people, and every hour for events under 25 people, as well as at the end of each day and at the end of the event.

Performers and stage speakers can remove mask during performances only if they can maintain at least four metres of physical distancing measure with the audience.

Standing events have the same guidelines as seating, but there must be marking on the floor to show individual space and group space.

Pre-packaged food with disposable cutlery is allowed, while any buffets must adhere to social distancing in queues and no self-service is allowed.

Other events including exhibition events, conferences/associations (including meeting rooms, seminars and training institutes), other events, banquet parties, award ceremonies and graduations, indoor sports, brand sales, product launches, exhibition tents, temporary structures and weddings are also allowed to resume.

Staff working at events must adhere to strict guidelines.
