Dragons' future secured at Wollongong's WIN Stadium

NSW Minister for Sport and Recreation, Graham Annesley has congratulated Venues NSW and the St George Illawarra Dragons on reaching a long-term agreement to secure the Dragons future at WIN Stadium.

Speaking this week, Minister Annesley stated "this agreement ensures rugby league fans will continue to have the opportunity to support the Dragons in the Illawarra.

"The new deal will not only benefit rugby league fans but will also flow on to local businesses further boosting the regional economy.

"The agreement includes an initial commitment of five years with a further five year option and demonstrates the value of Venues NSW and the Illawarra Local Venues Council working in tandem to secure the best outcome for the Club, the venue, the fans, and the region"

Venues NSW Chairman John Quayle said he was thrilled to lock the deal away, adding "with the new grandstand and improved patron facilities, WIN Stadium is a first-class venue for rugby league and deserves to have a high profile tenant like the Dragons playing in a national competition."

Dragons Chief Executive Peter Doust confirmed that the club remains committed to the region.

Doust concluded "we have been negotiating with Venues NSW for some months and we are very pleased to have reached this long-term agreement.

"The Dragons commitment to our region has never been in doubt, it was important that we worked through the terms and conditions to ensure they were of mutual benefits over such a significant term.

"This will ensure our continued business strategy across our region can be further developed.

"We are all now eagerly awaiting the release of the fixed schedule due in the next days from the NRL so we know exactly which six games home games will be played here at WIN Stadium and which at WIN Jubilee in Kogarah."
