Digital winter theme park opens in Vietnam resort complex Phu Quoc
Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. announced on 29th December that it has opened 'Ice Jungle', a digital theme park in a luxury residential resort complex on Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam - a tropical island in Vietnam known for water sports and recreation.
The park is themed on ‘winter’, ‘ice’ and ‘snow’ and targets locals who do not regularly experience snow or freezing winters due to the climate in Vietnam. Ice Jungle is composed of two media zones, with each area connected based on the central story of 'Moore Dong', a polar bear with the mysterious ability to make snow fall and create ice crystals.
'Ice Jungle' is decorated with 'Night Walk' content that is transformed into a new look through realistic media technology - next-generation digital media that seeks to reproduce the real world as closely as possible through realistic information that stimulates the five senses of humans. Representative examples include virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and extended reality (XR).
During the evenings, the Ice Jungle turns blue and purple with digital illumination. In order to reduce environmental impacts in the immediate area, the theme park mainly uses light shows, sound effects, hologram screens and interactive sensors to deliver a winter experience.
Following an outdoor trail, visitors arrive at the main building, where the cartoon polar bear, the mascot of the theme park, guides them on a winter journey. While making falling snow with fog machines and snow makers, the Ice Jungle displays lively new media art to create the winter atmosphere.
A Daewoo E&C official noted “Ice Jungle will bring a refreshing experience to locals in Southeast Asia, where snow is rare. By diversifying our business portfolio in Vietnam, our main overseas market, we will continue to demonstrate the potential of the Korean construction industry.”
Daewoo Engineering & Construction is a Korean construction company founded and established in 1973, headquartered in Seoul, South Korea.
The 13,000 square meter theme park is located at Meyhomes Capital Phu Quoc, a residential complex constructed in partnership with Daewoo E&C, near Truong Beach.
While some 700 visitors joined the opening ceremony held on 16th December, Ice Jungle officially opened to the public on Christmas Day.
Targeting both adults and children, Daewoo E&C is expecting the Ice Jungle to grow as a family-friendly theme park on Phu Quoc Island, which is a popular destination for family vacations.
