Immersive Gamebox attraction opens at Merlin Entertainments’ Darling Harbour site  

Merlin Entertainments partnership with Immersive Gamebox has this week seen the opening of the Immersive Gamebox attraction located next to SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium and Madame Tussauds at the Merlin Entertainments Sydney’s Darling Harbour site.

Described as being similar to VR but without the bulky headsets, the attraction is considered to be more fun and social.

With adventures designed by Immersive Gamebox’s in-house game studio, alongside partnerships with Netflix, Colombia Pictures and Paramount, Immersive Gamebox gives teams of 2-6 space to play 30-60 minute games featuring levels and challenges designed to be fun, social, and collaborative.

Participants simply enter a Gamebox, pop on a visor and use their body as the controller with the attraction offering an unforgettable immersive gaming experience for families, friends, corporate groups, and gamers.  

There are currently 11 exciting augmented reality adventures, including Squid Game based on the hit Netflix show, Angry Birds, PAW Patrol, Shaun the Sheep, Ghostbusters, Ticket to Mars and the Alien Aptitude Test.

Richard Dilly, General Manager at Merlin Entertainments enthused “Ahead of the summer holidays, we’re thrilled to officially open Australia’s first Immersive Gamebox experience in Darling Harbour! We have loved watching the guests explore the new gaming spaces – from a family day out to date night and groups of friends looking for a unique activity in the heart of the city; each game offers a fun and exciting new challenge. I’ve given them all a go, and my favourite is definitely Squid Game! They’re not easy either, so good luck!”

Immersive Gamebox is an immersive group gaming company founded in 2018 by Will Dean, also the co-founder of global obstacle course company Tough Mudder, and David Spindler. It has since built a community of 1 million players in 29 locations across the UK, US, Germany, United Arab Emirates and Australia.
