CUB partnership at MCG continues
The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) has announced that Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) will continue as the official beer and cider supplier of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) for a further 10 years, following the completion of a competitive tender process.
The renewed partnership will see CUB invest in the upgrade a number of facilities, starting with The Outer Bar which opened in the Ponsford Stand for the first time at Saturday's Preliminary Final.
The Outer Bar, which features its own external beer garden, is the first public facility in the stadium in which patrons will be able to sit in and enjoy a selection of beverages and snacks from within the premises.
The MCC has already worked with CUB to upgrade other facilities around the ground, including STUMPS Tavern which opened in the MCC Members Reserve in time for the 2013 AFL Finals Series and the Haydn Bunton Sports Bar in the AFL Members Reserve which opened in 2012.
MCC Chief Executive Stephen Gough said he is pleased that CUB has been reappointed as an official beer supplier of the MCG.
Gough explained "the MCG is a world-class stadium and we continue to look at ways of enhancing the patron experience at the MCG.
"The MCG and CUB share a proud history, having both played an integral role in Melbourne life for more than 150 years. As the leading beer supplier in Australia with brands people know and love, we're delighted that CUB will continue to supply high quality products to the MCG and help us to set the benchmark when it comes to offering premium facilities for our fans."
CUB Chief Executive Ari Mervis added "we're very pleased to be able to offer our beer and cider brands at Australia's most famous and iconic stadium.
"Sport is such a big part of the Australian culture and having a beer while watching the cricket or footy or any sport at the 'G is an integral part of the Victorian way of life."
