Construction of Rosebud Aquatic Centre continues despite Coronavirus challenge

Construction of Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Rosebud Aquatic Centre project is continuing to make progress and is on budget and on track for completion this year despite the ongoing challenges presented by the COVID-19 crisis.

The project is still progressing, and construction contractor Buxton Constructions has implemented a range of measures to ensure compliance with current State Government restrictions due to the Coronavirus situation.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Councillor Mayor Sam Hearn said that the health and safety of everyone on site and the wider community continues to be the highest priority during COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayor Hearn noted “it is a testament to the project and construction teams that they have adapted so well to the current restrictions to continue the construction of our Aquatic Centre.

“When the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation eventually changes, it will be community gathering places like our Aquatic Centre that play an important role in providing spaces for the community to come together again, so we are thrilled that this project is still on track.”

Seawinds Ward Councillor Antonella Celi advised  “now more than ever before the health and wellbeing of our community is a top priority. Council is pleased to see the construction of the Aquatic Centre progress and when completed will provide a space for recreation as well as health and wellbeing opportunities for many years to come.”

Seawinds Ward Councillor Frank Martin adds “so many Mornington Peninsula residents have been impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic, including changes in income and job opportunities. Our Aquatic Centre will play an important role in providing new jobs and help the community get back on its feet after this pandemic.”

The Rosebud Aquatic Centre construction is scheduled for completion late 2020.
