New aquatic facility set to be pride of the Mornington Peninsula

Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula is gearing up for the arrival of a state-of-the-art aquatic and recreation facility.

Work to construct the highly anticipated Rosebud Aquatic Centre will begin this month with what will be the region’s largest aquatic and recreation facility when it opens by late 2020.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Council’s vision for an intergenerational facility will feature dedicated spaces for health and fitness; high priority disability access; a rich offering of pools and carefully considered Environmentally Sustainable Design.

A warm water pool offering hydrotherapy and rehabilitation programming will support the Peninsula’s significant older community, while the 50 metre indoor pool, learn-to-swim pool and aquatic playground will ensure families can grow confident and safe in the water for generations to come.

A wellness centre with direct relationship to the pool has been thoughtfully designed with consulting rooms for specialist services such as massage, physiotherapy, and recovery.

The facility will also offer a 720 metre² gym, multi-purpose fitness rooms and dedicated spin room.

The Council’s Disability Advisory Committee has been an integral part of the planning process providing guidance on high priority disability access features such as direct ramp access to the warm water pool, spa, family changerooms and the inclusion of a changing places toilet.

At an operational level, the Rosebud Aquatic Centre will feature the latest technology, innovative fitness programming, destination café and in-house gallery and will not only support but value the local community and ensure the Peninsula remains the perfect place to enjoy all stages of life.
