Courts reopened at Mornington Peninsula Boneo Tennis Club

Boneo Tennis Club recently celebrated completion of works to upgrade the popular Mornington Peninsula courts with a reopening event attended by community, club, local MPs Greg Hunt and Chris Brayne, as well as Nathan Phillips and Michael Carnell from Tennis Victoria and Dennis Mah from Sonaray.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Sam Hearn advised that the Shire supported the upgrade through its 19/20 Capital Works Program stating “Council contributed $110,000 towards the upgrade, specifically the re-surfacing of the existing tennis courts and it’s great to see the end result.

“Council officers really appreciated working with the club and their preferred contractor to ensure the works were safe and built to compliant standards.”

Club Secretary Georgie Keach added the day attracted plenty of positive feedback on the improvements so far, adding "it was fabulous to see all the courts looking great and being enjoyed by the community.

“We’re all looking forward to the courts being enjoyed by all in time for peak tennis season over summer.

“These great results could not have been achieved without support from our local government through time, skills, support and funding.

The Club is also celebrating Free Tennis Month offering free court hire every Sunday during November. A great opportunity to share the new facility with the community.

The Shire was recently recognised by Tennis Victoria winning the Supporting Tennis – Local Government Award at the 2019 Victorian Tennis Awards.
