Caravan Industry National Conference to stage Insurance Summit

Looking to celebrate its ongoing successes and address key industry challenges, the upcoming Caravan Industry National Conference is to feature an Insurance Summit that will see underwriters and brokers explain the current market and head case studies from industry on new and innovative ways in which they are dealing with the insurance issues.

The Summit will also feature Conference host and organiser the Caravan Industry Association of Australia (CIAA) advising of its actions in relation to current insurance challenges that the sector is facing.

Introducing the Summit, the Association advises "many caravan parks around the country are experiencing stress surrounding insurance, both in availability and affordability.

"At the upcoming National Conference, we recognise the seriousness of the issue and while there is some light at the end of the tunnel, there are some things that caravan parks can do to make themselves more insurable.

"Do not miss out on understanding what you need to do before your next insurance renewal comes around."

Being held from 10th to 12th May at RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast, the Caravan Industry National Conference will feature keynote speakers bringing valuable insights, practical strategies, and inspiring stories to help navigate the challenges and opportunities facing the caravan and camping industry.

There is also an exhibition, range of social activities and the annual industry Gala Dinner, that features the presentation of prestigious awards: The Eric Hayman Award for Excellence, The Gerry Ryan OAM Award for Innovation, and The Future Leaders Award.

CIAA’s recently released Business Conditions Report for January 2023, highlighted the strength of the Australian caravan industry despite ongoing challenges.

The report, which analyses the performance, outlook, and sentiment of the Australian caravan industry, demonstrated significant growth across the industry.

It also reveals that Australia’s love affair with the recreational vehicle and caravan lifestyle has only continued to gain momentum during the pandemic. This has been boosted by tightening household spending has limited international travel, which has resulted in an increase in domestic activity.

The report revealed that the growth in the number of annual caravan and camping trips in Australia has overtaken 2019 pre-pandemic levels, with 15.1 million trips and 60.1 million visitor nights recorded at the end of 2022.

This is a significant milestone for the industry, as it is the first time that the caravan and camping visitor economy has surpassed 15 million trips and 60 million nights ever.

These figures not only reflect Australians’ enduring passion for caravan and camping but also demonstrate the industry’s collaborative efforts in providing diverse and tailored products and services with the consumer in mind.
