ASSA announces new BOSS Leadership initiative

The Australian Swim Schools Association (ASSA) has announced the launch of BOSS (the Business of Swim Schools) initiative to unite and empower swim school professionals across Australia and beyond.

Described as a “bold new leadership and community initiative”, the program builds on recent momentum from ASSA Swimposium events held across the country which saw early engagement from industry professionals through the BOSS W events in the first few months of 2025.

With the national launch, ASSA Chief Executive, Luke Daly is inviting swim school owners, managers, emerging leaders and advocates to find their place within this fast-growing initiative, explaining “everyone in our industry is passionate about something in particular.

“BOSS is about creating space for people to turn that passion into purpose, whatever their role, location, or experience level. It’s a place to belong, and a way to make a real difference in our communities”.

A leadership initiative underpinned by a flexible, collaborative framework that enables cross-sector partnerships while maintaining the independence of other associations and businesses,

BOSS streams include:

BOSS Circle
A peer mentoring and support network for swim school owners navigating challenges unique to swim school ownership.

BOSS Drive
A leadership development stream for managers and team leads focused on building culture and driving day-to-day impact.

BOSS W
A women-led leadership platform celebrating and supporting female professionals in aquatics, with events, webinars and beyond.

BOSS Up
Catering to emerging leaders under 40, this stream showcases career pathways and builds the next generation of industry change-makers.

BOSS Access
Focusing on inclusion, accessibility, and advocacy for underrepresented communities, with a spotlight on best practice and systems change.

BOSS Remote
Connecting and uplifting regional and remote communities, providing targeted support where it’s needed most.

BOSS Legends
Honouring the pioneers of the swim school industry, recognising those whose contributions have laid the foundation for today’s success.

BOSS Climate
Educating and equipping swim schools to adopt sustainable practices that reduce energy use and environmental impact.

BOSS Chat
Raising awareness around mental health and wellbeing, creating a space for connection and support within the industry.

ASSA notes that “with a clear brand identity and a growing national footprint, BOSS provides a unique structure that fosters collaboration, honours legacy, and supports future growth.

"Through streams tailored to special interest areas, BOSS makes room for everyone to connect with what matters most to them.

“ASSA is encouraging professionals across the industry to share their passion and nominate the BOSS stream they feel most connected to.”
