ASGA announces new Executive Director appointment
The Australian Sporting Goods Association has announced the appointment of Shaun Bajada as its new Executive Director, taking over from Shannon Walker, who had led ASGA for the past six years.
Welcoming the appointment of Bajada, who has been a key member of the Australian Retailers Association executive team from since 2009, ASGA Board President, Andrew Reed advised “on behalf of the ASGA Board I’d like to take this opportunity to share the exciting news of the appointment of Shaun Bajada as Executive Director.
“Shaun comes to ASGA with a great wealth of business and association experience having most recently been the General Manager of Operations at the Australian Retailers Association for the past seven years.
“Shaun’s experience includes: building strong member relationships; growing membership and key association partnerships; strategic planning; problem solving; and creating systems (and) data for the 21st century, which each will be highly valued in the multi-dimensional leadership role ASGA requires.
“We encourage members to reach out to Shaun and make time to meet with him so he can hear directly from you as to how ASGA can continue to assist your business with knowledge, insights, industry connection, as a strong voice in the wider sporting goods and business community.”
Reflecting on his appointment, Bajada advised “I am truly honoured and excited to have been selected to lead this outstanding organisation. ASGA has been renowned for its advocacy and government relations work, which has shaped, as well as influenced policies affecting the sporting and active lifestyle sector.
“I am determined to continue to grow ASGA the membership base which resonates and aligns with the market - offering a unique blend of insights, knowledge, networking, advocacy, member benefits and support.
“With my business acumen spanning commercial operations as well as the management of associations, it is my priority to lead ASGA to become an even stronger association.”
The Australian Sporting Goods Association was formed in 1981 as the industry association representing a broad spectrum of sporting goods and active lifestyle industry participants, including manufacturers, importers, wholesalers and retailers.
