Anytime Fitness promotes Simon Thompson to Managing Director and revamps Leadership Team

Anytime Fitness franchise network has today announced the promotion of Simon Thompson to Managing Director of Anytime Fitness Australia alongside a refreshed senior leadership team to strengthen its business structure and accelerate growth.

The strategic appointments mark a significant milestone for the business as it sharpens its focus on building capability, increasing impact, and delivering even greater value to its Franchise Partners and members.

Thompson steps up to lead the brand’s next phase of growth. Supporting him is a highly experienced leadership team:

  • Jason Stubbings, formerly Head of Franchise Development & Compliance, has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer.

  • Fiona Sarkissian, previously Head of People & Culture, moves into the role of Head of Franchise Performance, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to franchisee success.

  • Chris Reid continues in his role as Head of Business Development, following a record-breaking year of franchise territory sales.

  • Caitlin Bancroft has been appointed Group Chief Brand & Marketing Officer, while remaining focussed on the Australian market, she will also help ensure shared learnings across Australia and the UK.

  • Kevin Huang steps up as Group Chief Financial Officer, ensuring robust financial leadership and strategic alignment globally.

As part of this evolution, Anytime Fitness has commenced recruitment for a new Head of People and Culture, further strengthening its focus on team engagement, talent development, and culture.

These changes come as Anytime Fitness celebrates a landmark year. Not only did Anytime Fitness exceed its target of selling 50 new franchise territories - it more than doubled it. With a current network of over 580 clubs and 710,000+ members in Australia alone, the business is well on track to reach its long-term goal of 800 clubs and one million members.

Thompson shared “as we evolve, our structure must evolve too. Our new leadership team reflects the depth of talent we have across the business and positions us strongly for the future. Every move we make is now 100% focused on strengthening and growing the Anytime Fitness brand.

“We’re not just growing in size - we’re growing in capability, impact, and ambition. This is a pivotal moment for our brand, and we’re ready for what’s next.”
