AALARA 2017 conference program focuses on attractions safety and compliance

Following a turbulent period in which safety has been a major focus for the attractions industry and regulatory bodies, the 2017 Australian Amusement, Leisure and Recreation Association (AALARA) annual conference is to address key issues surrounding safety, incident management and compliance.

Being held on the Gold Coast from 15th to 18th May, Australia’s only attractions industry conference and trade show will showcase all that its best about Australia and New Zealand’s, attractions industry with a series of sector leading presentations, workshops, site tours and social events.

Giving a global perspective on the state of the industry and international safety issues, Greg Hale, Chief Safety Officer and Vice President of Worldwide Safety and Health for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts and International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Chairman, will open the conference.

Continuing IAAPA's longstanding tradition of supporting the AALARA Conference, Hale will explain his role in leading a global team of ride design, operations, maintenance and safety professionals from around the world and how he keeps Disney at the leading edge of theme park safety and technology advancement.

Other presentations will include:

• Karen Phillips - Making Public Relations Count 
• Carlie Holt and Matthew Smith of Sparke Helmore Lawyers – The Effective Management of Critical incidents 
• Chris Smoje - Triggering Customer Service Excellence Chris Smoje 
• Tim Fisher, Chief Execuitve, Village Roadshow Theme Parks 

Other presentations will address operations, marketing and  social media, while industry breakout sessions will cover sector specific activities in go-karting, trampolining, transportable, laser tag and aquatics.

In addition, the morning of Wednesday 17th May will feaure the Centaman Networking Breakfast while conference site visits on Thursday 18th May will include behind the scenes study tours of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Warner Bros. Movie World and Slideways Go Karting Gold Coast.

The AALARA Conference also offers an extensive social and networking program and a two-day Trade Show.
