Australian Trampoline Park Association links with world trampoline body

The International Association of Trampoline Parks (IATP) has announced that it has established links with the Australian Trampoline Park Association (ATPA) which will see ATPA act as the recognised arm of the IATP in Australia.

As a result, Australian trampoline arenas wishing to join the IATP will first need to meet the criteria set forth by the ATPA.

Established in 2013, ATPA is an independent body established to set and govern safety standards within the Australian trampoline park industry. ATPA also acts as a sub-committee of the Australian Amusement, Leisure and Recreation Association (AALARA) and was formed to:

• Develop an industry code of practice,
• Maintain safety standards, and
• To protect and promote safety in the industry.

Created to mandate the highest levels of safety within the trampoline park industry, being part of ATPA gives facilities access to the ATPA logo for promotional purpose and an annual accreditation sticker to display at venues.

ATPA membership is open to operators who comply with the ATPA Industry Standard and are committed to ensuring the highest levels of safety within the Australian Trampoline Park industry.

ATPA membership is subject to annual compliance with the industry standard, as independently audited by AM-SAFE.

ATPA advise potential members to initially join AALARA and then apply for an AM-SAFE audit of each of their venues, membership will be subject to payment of membership fees, completion of successful audits and annual compliance

As a result of the link with IATP, Australian parks wishing to join the IATP will first need to meet the ATPA's membership criteria.

In the light of media reports on injuries in trampoline parks, ATPA advise "Australian trampoline industry best practice is a significant injury rate of less than two for every 10,000 jumpers, which is significantly lower than injury rates within widely adopted sports such as football, netball and soccer."
