25 metre pool at Bunbury's South West Sports Centre reopened after maintenance work

The City of Bunbury, together with the South West Sports Centre (SWSC), has announced the successful completion - ahead of schedule - of major upgrade works to the 25-metre pool at the facility, delivering improved aquatic services for the community.

The maintenance works, which commenced in late April 2025, involved the full replacement of the ageing pool liner with tiles in the 25-metre pool, an essential maintenance activity designed to ensure the long-term safety, functionality and aesthetic of one of the region’s most utilised aquatic assets.

Throughout the project, the SWSC ensured minimal disruption to patrons by providing continued access to the 50m pool, which was reconfigured to allow for 25m lap swimming and programs. Popular amenities such as the spa, sauna, and steam room remained open, while regular communications kept members informed of progress.

Key Benefits to Members and Patrons:

Modernised Swimming Facilities - The pool features new tiling and a refreshed appearance, for a more enjoyable environment.

Improved User Experience - Enhanced surfaces improve comfort for lap swimmers, swim schools, and rehabilitation users.

Ongoing Program Delivery - Alternative arrangements ensured that swim lessons and fitness programs could continue with minimal interruption.

Originally scheduled for completion by mid-August, the City of Bunbury is pleased to announce that the project was finished ahead of schedule, with the upgraded 25m pool reopened on Saturday 12th July 2025.

The South West Sports Centre is one of the largest and most diverse recreation facilities in regional Western Australia, with the council committed to ongoing investment in its upkeep and improvement.
