2011 Venue Management School a Huge Success

The Venue Management Association (Asia and Pacific)'s 2011 Venue Management School (VMS), staged last week, has been pronounced a "huge success."

Held at the Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove on the Gold Coast the new look School - formerly known as the Public Venue Management School - is the only industry run school of its kind in Australia.

Since 1994, the internationally recognised School has been a turning point in the careers of more than 500 venue industry professionals and has been growing year on year.

The popularity of the School is such that the Year One program was oversubscribed this year.

The week also witnessed transition at the VMA with outgoing General Manager John Glenn, who will next week commence a new role as Executive Producer - Venue Utilisation at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, handing over the Association' senior executive responsibilities to new General Manager Karen Windram.

Windram brings a strong background in administration, hospitality and events to the Association.

Among other VMS highlights Katherine Norman from The Arts Centre in Melbourne won the School's top student award and the $10,000 AEG Ogden Scholarship.

The VMA has also announced that its 2012 Asia-Pacific Venue Industry Congress will be held from 27th to 30th May at the RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast.
