Sarah Smith wins 2010 AEG Ogden PVMS Scholarship

Last week's successful 2010 Public Venue Management School (PVMS), held at the Hyatt Regency, Sanctuary Cove, Queensland, saw Year Two graduate Sarah Smith awarded the AEG Ogden Scholarship.

Smith is Assistant Food and Beverage Manager at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

The Scholarship has been awarded for the leading graduate from the PVMS each year since its inception, and recently increased in value from $5,000 to $10,000 per annum.

Smith will receive enrolment in the PAFMS Graduate Institute at Oglebay, USA, and will also be entitled to make at least one venue visit in another city during her trip. All travel and Graduate Institute fees will be covered by the award. AEG Ogden assists in the arrangements for the venue visit.

Steve Romer, President of the Venue Management Association and General Manager of Sydney Entertainment Centre said, "I was absolutely thrilled and delighted that Sarah Smith has been awarded the AEG Ogden Scholarship as the top graduating student from the VMA's Public Venue Management School in 2010.

"On behalf of the VMA Council and PVMS Committee, I'd like to congratulate Sarah for being awarded this prestigious scholarship. The experience will have great professional development benefits for Sarah.

"The VMA Council would like to particularly thank AEG Ogden for sponsoring the PVMS Scholarship for the past 16 years. Congratulations Sarah!"

AEG Ogden Chief Executive Harvey Lister added "the annual Scholarship further demonstrates AEG Ogden's commitment to supporting industry-based education and the value of international exposure to up and coming managers in our industry.

"AEG Ogden is delighted to continue our support for PVMS and in particular for this Scholarship. I congratulate Sarah and look forward to hearing about her experiences at the Graduate Institute."
