YMCA South Australia to manage new St Clair Recreation Centre
YMCA South Australia will partner with the City of Charles Sturt to manage the new, state-of-the-art St Clair Recreation Centre, after the completion of a $26 million rebuild.
Set to open Sunday 4th November, the leading not-for-profit organisation will manage the rebuilt facility for a five-year term.
With the City of Charles Sturt considered one of Adelaide’s key sporting and entertainment hubs, the Council undertook a rigorous tender process to ensure the community was provided with the highest quality service. There was a strong focus placed on the delivery of innovative and inclusive programming, as well as building strong community partnerships.
YMCA South Australia Chief Executive Haydn Robins said the new partnership with the City of Charles Sturt was an exciting opportunity for the YMCA to positively impact local community, industry and business.
Robins explained “we are proud to have been awarded the contract for the management of the St Clair Recreation Centre and are looking forward to creating opportunities for more members of the community to benefit from this exciting new facility.
“We are ready for the exciting challenge of helping more people enjoy an active, healthy lifestyle.”
The St Clair Recreation Centre is the central facility in a revitalised St Clair Precinct which will include: a new six court sports stadium; dedicated indoor roller skate area; indoor function space and meeting spaces; café; 24/7 gymnasium; integrated heritage aspects and an new expansive play space including nature play and all ability inclusive spaces.
The million project was funded by the City of Charles Sturt with contributions from the South Australia Office of Recreation and Sport and Department of Education and Child Development.
