Recreation SA to undertake audit of South Australian aquatic facilities

Recreation SA has secured funding through the South Australian Office for Recreation and Sport (ORS) 2016/17 Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program to complete a statewide swimming pool audit.

Focusing on facilities that are available for public use, the audit will follow past surveys undertaken in 1997 and 2007.

The key project outcome is to ensure ORS has a database that reflects the current number, quality and infrastructure of existing aquatic centres throughout South Australian to be used by ORS, Recreation SA and allied bodies to determine strategic outcomes for the future of the aquatic industry.

A statement from Recreation SA advises “we intend to work collaboratively with the allied bodies to collate knowledge that will enhance the project outcome. In particular Swimming SA, Sport SA and the Department of Education and Children’s Services will be approached for input.”

The project will be completed by December 2017.
