Yawa Aquatic Centre set for end-of-the-month opening
The Shire of Mornington Peninsula has advised that its new Yawa Aquatic Centre will open to the public on Friday 25th June with the council, along with facility managers Belgravia Leisure, to host a free community open day on Sunday 4th July 2021.
As the facility moves towards its opening, Belgravia Leisure is currently recruiting swim teachers and qualified fitness experts to work at the Centre.
In addition to the swim teacher roles, vacancies exist for the following fitness roles:
Personal Trainers: Cert IV in Personal Training, Fitness Registration
Fitness Instructors: Certificate III in Fitness
Group Exercise Instructors: Fitness Registration, Relevant Program Certification.
Designed for people of all ages and abilities, the new Centre has a 50 metre indoor pool as its focal point while also offering a range of group fitness activities like yoga, Pilates, Body Pump and RPM.
Other features include:
Learn-to-swim pool
Warm water program pool
Spa, sauna, and steam room
Multi-purpose rooms for health and fitness classes
Wellness centre featuring consulting suites for services to be offered by Peninsula Health including exercise physiology, dietetics, counselling, physiotherapy, podiatry and occupational therapy
A café (Elements Eatery) offering high-quality, healthy food
High priority disability access including access ramps and hoist to the main pool and warm water program pool
Family change rooms for people with disabilities or special needs.
A recent statement from the Council advises “over the last few months, the Yawa Aquatic Centre build has made steady progress and works are nearing completion inside the building. All pools have been filled, as well as the pool surroundings (concourse) and pool tiling completed.
“The floating pool divider (pool boom) has been installed allowing the 50m pool to be divided into two 25m pools (and) the Aqua Play Zone has been fitted with three slides, water cannons and tipping bucket.”
