Yas Waterworld’s successful Emirati Adventure

Abu Dhabi waterpark Yas Waterworld has marked three years of operations, during which it has cemented itself as a favourite entertainment destination in the region.

In marking its anniversary, the unique Emirati-themed waterpark has reflected back on key milestones and achievements, while looking forward to the year ahead for local, regional and international visitors.

2015 saw a range of events at Yas Waterworld including the popular Ladies Night, the waterpark hosting the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson event and the World Flowboarding Championships – at which Team UAE won the event for the second year in a row.

Commenting on its achievements, Yas Waterworld General Manager Tim Mow stated “the park has continued to exceed all of our expectations through 2015, with positive responses from our guests from within the UAE as well as from the region and across the world.

“Our world-class offering and thrilling rides, slides and attractions have been instrumental in establishing us as a preferred family-friendly destination in the UAE and the GCC region.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our guests who have been part of our amazing journey for the past three years, and look forward to welcoming new and returning visitors as we announce some more exciting news later this year!”

Key achievements in Yas Waterworld’s third year of operations - as illustrated in the followin infographic:

Legendary Adventures: 2015 saw the Legend of the Lost Pearl being brought to life at Yas Waterworld with the welcome additions of a live camel and falcon at the Souk, as well as authentic Arabian coffee and dates, allowing guests to further immerse themselves into the park’s story.
Additional attractions included camel riding area and a brand new ‘Legend of the Lost Pearl’show further provided a truly Emirati waterpark experience.

Ladies Night: Yas Waterworld’s new pearl-themed Ladies Night took off in March 2015, seeing a large number of the park’s female guests enjoy the night’s activities such as UV Henna painting and H20 Dance Zone in a private setting. With special celebrations for Eid and the first Emirati Women’s Day adding to the park’s thrilling rides, slides and attractions, the night is set to be back by popular demand in March 2016 even bigger and better than ever before.

Schools: Three new programs were added to Yas Waterworld’s successful ‘Cool Schools’ initiative, providing students with a winning combination of education and excitement when visiting Yas Waterworld. With sessions covering park’s Emirati Heritage, Water Preservation and Rollercoaster Technology, the program offers a unique behind-the-scenes look at Yas Waterworld.

The World Flowboarding Championships: 2015 saw the World Flowboarding Championships take place on Bubbles’ Barrel, the largest FlowBarrel Double sheet wave ride in the world, for the third consecutive year. Team UAEled by Humaid Al-Bloushi, Mohammed Al-Bloushi and Clayton Barker, saw the home team eliminate60 participants from 10 countries across the world and being crowned World Flowboarding champions for the second year in a row.

Industry Awards: Yas Waterworld continued to establish itself as a worldwide favourite family destination in 2015, winning four regional and international awards in 2015, including the Traveller’s Choice Award and the Certificate of excellence from the world’s largest travel site, TripAdvisor.
