WLSL 2015 achieves new (unofficial) world record
Organisers of the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson (WLSL) have advised that the 2015 event has set a new world record for the largest swimming lesson conducted in a 24 hour period around the globe.
While yet to be verified, WLSL recorded 37,500 participants, topping the 2014 record of 36,564, at 476 locations when it was held on 18th June.
All proof of performance is now being submitted to Guinness World Records for official approval.
In addition WLSL has reports from 109 locations that conducted the WLSL lesson with fewer than 25 participants – which are not usually recognised in the official Guinness World Record figures.
In a statement, WLSL explained “these facilities certainly qualify as champions for our global effort to help spread the vital message that swimming lessons save lives!”
The statement added “we truly appreciate all efforts (and) are so grateful to all our host locations, supporting organisations and the local and national media that make this life-saving event possible.”
Australasian Leisure Management is a proud supporter of the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson.
