New Sunshine Coast high ropes course the 'most thrilling' in Australia

The Sunshine Coast’s newest tourist attraction, the Tree Top Challenge High Ropes Adventure Park, was officially launched at the weekend.

Situated at the Big Pineapple, which is also undergoing a major upgrade, the multi-million-dollar High Ropes Adventure Park is the latest adrenaline-pumping offering from Tree Top Challenge.

Set to open to the public on 23rd March, the Tree Tops Challenge High Ropes Adventure Park will operate from 9am until 5pm, seven days a week.

Tree Top Challenge General Manager David Taylor said the new park, with courses suspended in the canopy at heights over 25 metres, is both the highest and most thrilling attraction of its type in Australia.

Taylor advised “we operate to the highest safety standards and our guests are continuously attached to overhead guidewires from their harness and are only disconnected when they are safely on the ground.

“It’s a great opportunity for families with kids aged eight through to adults to experience the stunning rainforest environment at the Big Pineapple while getting outside their comfort zone.

“We are excited to join the vibrant tourism community in the Sunshine Coast and are looking forward to welcoming our first official adventure seekers from 23rd March 2019.”

The course on the Sunshine Coast was the fifth attraction owned and operated by Tree Top – complementing the group’s offering on the Gold Coast and in the Scenic Rim.

It combines more than 100 high ropes challenges and 12 ziplines spanning up to 130 metres and takes about a half day to complete.

The attraction also offers to a number of family friendly activities, including three courses that are designed to thrill youngsters aged eight years and over.

In attendance at the opening, Queensland Tourism Industry Development Minister, Kate Jones stated “this is a great addition to the world-class tourism offering on the Sunshine Coast (which has) created 15 local jobs on the Sunshine Coast (and) we expect this attraction to create more positions as other stages come online.”

Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson said the Tree Top Challenge is a welcome addition to the Sunshine Coast community supporting the delivery of a healthy, smart and creative region.

He added “the investment by the Tree Top Challenge was a great result for business, local employment opportunities and a sign for positive business confidence in the region.

“We have some spectacular natural attractions including the lush rainforest where the Tree Top Challenge has been installed.

“This unique location will provide visitors with an amazing experience high above the rainforest floor. There are not many places in the world you can do this, so it’s fantastic to have this right here on the Sunshine Coast.”
