XtraClubs introduce ‘affordable luxury’ wellness clubs in two Sydney locations

Specialising in ice baths, steamrooms, Finnish and infrared saunas, XtraClubs have opened self-service, technology-enhanced wellness experiences at two location in at Green Square and Bondi Junction in Sydney.

Part of the growing market for urban bathhouses, the locations have been described as “democratising wellness” with memberships starting at just $27.95 per week – expanding the offering beyond being “a luxury for the wealthy or a recovery tool only for athletes”.

Premium Facilities for Large-Format Communal Use: Inspired by the world’s leading bathhouses, XtraClubs features the Southern Hemisphere’s largest Finnish sauna, that was handcrafted and sits up to 35 guests.

Convenient and Self-Service: Open daily from 6am to 11pm, located in accessible hubs for easy drop-in visits.

Riding the Wellness Wave: Sauna and cold plunge use has surged globally, with the USA seeing a 40% rise in the past two years.

Finnish Sauna: The Finnish sauna has the most consistent evidence regarding health benefits. They have been shown to decrease the risk of health outcomes such as hypertension, respiratory conditions, cardiovascular concerns, musculoskeletal disorders and may also improve mental wellbeing and sleep.

Infrared Saunas: Studies have indicated they may improve cardiovascular health, relieve pain, lower blood pressure, boost circulation, aid muscle recovery and even support weight management by increasing metabolic rate.

Steam bathing: Studies suggest that it may support skin health, hydration of the skin, collagen production and may promote longevity while burning calories and aiding healthy ageing.

XtraClubs was founded by brothers Anthony and James Simonetta and friend Simon Hamilton, who first tested their idea through a targeted a marketing campaign and an ice bath challenge in Bondi Beach.

The enthusiastic response confirmed demand, and within months, they secured over $2 million in capital to bring their concept to life.

With plans to expand, the first two XtraClubs locations are at Sydney’s Bondi Junction and at Green Square in Zetland.
