AusTriathlon and Dietitian Approved partner to drive the future of triathlon
AusTriathlon is excited to announce a new partnership with Dietitian Approved, a leader in evidence-based sports nutrition, to help fuel Australia’s triathlon community and support athletes in achieving peak performance and recovery.
Founded by Advanced Sports Dietitian, Taryn Richardson, Dietitian Approved specialises in triathlon-specific nutrition, working with athletes of all levels to cut through misinformation and provide clear, practical strategies to optimize performance, recovery, and overall well-being.
Through this collaboration, AusTriathlon members will gain access to courses, and programs designed specifically for triathletes. Highlights include:
Recovery Accelerator – an exclusive new program for AusTriathlon members, teaching the right fuelling and nutrition choices to accelerate recovery, boost energy, and improve results.
Bike Fuel Masterclass – practical strategies for fuelling long rides for optimal performance.
Triathlon Nutrition Kickstart – ideal for athletes building strong foundations in everyday and race-day nutrition.
Triathlon Nutrition Academy – the flagship program for athletes stepping up to long-course racing, offering advanced guidance and support to unlock next-level performance.
Announcing the partnership, AusTriathlon Chief Executive, Tim Harradine stated "nutrition goes far beyond fuelling for training or race day – it underpins performance, recovery and mental wellbeing while also playing a critical role in reducing injuries such as bone stress, which remain a significant issue in triathlon. With so much conflicting information online, we want our members to have access to trusted, evidence-based advice. Partnering with Dietitian Approved ensures they do.”
Richardson added “I’m incredibly excited to partner with AusTriathlon to help more triathletes across Australia take control of their nutrition. As a long-time advocate for evidence-based fuelling, this partnership is an opportunity to empower athletes with the knowledge they need to perform at their best. Whether they’re training for their first enticer or chasing a podium finish at Kona. Nutrition is often the missing piece of the puzzle, and I’m passionate about making it simple, practical, and race-day ready.”
As a triathlete herself and having served as the Sports Dietitian for Triathlon Australia from 2014 to 2020, Richardson has worked across developing, elite and paratriathlon programs. Over six years, she supported athletes preparing for the Olympics, world championships, and international competitions, while also guiding the next generation of talent as part of the Young Guns Tour in Asia. This background has given her unique insight into the fuelling demands of triathlon, forming the foundation of the education delivered through Dietitian Approved and the Triathlon Nutrition Academy.
This partnership highlights the essential role of nutrition in triathlon, ensuring athletes from grassroots to elite levels are not only ready to race but also recover well, train consistently, and enjoy the sport for years to come.
Taryn will be hosting a pre-season Nutrition Webinar in late September/early October exclusively for AusTriathlon members, a free event for members to ask questions and learn from the best in the business.
