Wexer's new software kit enables integration of its virtual content into operator’s own apps
Wexer, the creator of virtual digital fitness solutions has launched a new Software Development Kit (SDK) that enables licensed partners to integrate the extensive Wexer video on-demand content library directly into their own mobile apps.
Wexer Chief Executive, Paul Bowman notes “Gym members now expect high-quality, on-demand content as part of their membership, but creating this content and keeping it updated is both expensive and time-consuming.
“We also know that many operators already have an app and don’t want to start again from scratch.
“Our SDK has been launched in recognition of this. It allows clubs to provide their members with top-quality virtual workouts, all delivered within their own app, but with the provision of that content outsourced to Wexer: world-class, constantly refreshed, music license-free, and all created, curated, and negotiated on clubs’ behalf.”
Clubs have full control of the user experience – what the end user sees in terms of design, app navigation and branding – as well as the data generated by the app.
Meanwhile, Wexer does the invisible work behind the scenes. Clubs can cherry pick from Wexer’s huge library of world-class content to suit the needs of their specific member profile.
Bowman adds “the moment a user hits ‘play’, our platform takes care of adaptively streaming the content to the user, based on their network conditions.
“From taking the entirety of our virtual library to selecting only specific class collections, the choice is absolutely the operator’s.
“It’s a cost-effective way of giving gym members all the content they want, without them ever having to leave the branded environment of their club’s own app.
“If clubs want to charge a premium for the new content – as long as their app has that functionality – that’s also fine. Ultimately, clubs have full control of the environment. To all intents and purposes, it looks and feels like their own content.”
The SDK is simply a code package that can be imported into an existing mobile app very easily, after which developers can use the SDK to rapidly develop content listings and other features through the SDK capabilities. Bowman advises “this work can generally be done in a matter of days.”
