Waterslides ready to ride in advance of Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre opening
Waterslides at the soon-to-open Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre (PARC) were recently inspected by local Federal MP for Dunkley, Bruce Billson who joined Frankston Mayor Darrel Taylor.
Set for a ‘soft opening’ on Saturday 6th September, PARC will be formally opened on Saturday 20th September with community day in conjunction with Frankston City Council – to be attended by Prime Minister Tony Abbott.
Commenting on the slides, which are expected to be on of the key attractions at the new $49.7 million facility, Bruce Billson stated “the waterslides are a key highlight of the centre and take riders inside and outside of the complex.
“Once completed, the park will provide first class health, fitness and wellness services to the regional community, and offer hours of entertainment and leisure opportunities for children and adults of all ages and abilities.
“The newly constructed centre will be the Peninsula’s premier aquatic, fitness and fun park.”
Mayor Taylor was enthusiastic about the the new facility’s offering of the world’s first AquaSphere Family Raft Ride, stating “the new AquaSphere Family Raft Ride features high-speed twists and drops, fully enclosed spheres and 90 degree corners.
“The family slide complex will also include an interactive aquatic playground for young children and will provide hours of entertainment and fun for the community.”
The centre is expected to provide major community benefits for the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula region with the inclusion of a family slide complex with not only the AquaSphere but also the Constrictor waterslide and an interactive aquatic playground for young children.
Both waterslides and the aquatic play area have been supplied by WhiteWater West.
Additional features of the centre include:
• A heated indoor Olympic-size 50 metre swimming pool;
• Dedicated children's and leisure pools with beach entry;
• A warm water exercise pool, spa, sauna and steam room;
• A gymnasium equipped with the latest fitness technology;
