VMA opens application for new Diploma of Venue Management

The Venue Management Association (VMA) has announced the launch of its nationally accredited Diploma of Venue Management, with applications now open from students wanting to commence their career, have industry experience, or are currently working in the venue management industry.

The curriculum, undertaken part time over two years, blends online resources with workplace tasks and activities. To earn the diploma, students must complete 10 core and six elective units, with students being able to specialise in an area by selecting one of five streams such as venue operations, people and culture, and leadership. On successful completion, there may be opportunities in roles such as stadium or theatre manager, event or venue coordinator, ticketing manager, production coordinator and more!

In conjunction with the diploma, the VMA offers Single Unit Study. Whether looking to learn for personal interest or to step up to the full diploma later, Single Unit Study gives flexibility and control to explore what matters to students.

Introducing the Diploma, VMA President, Steve Harper CVE explained “with the VMA delivering the only venue management specific course, and with our industry feeling the full brunt of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is an opportunity for our members, who may have been stood down or had hours reduced, to take this time to upskill and broaden their industry knowledge.

“Through these times, the VMA will continue to focus on delivering value to our members, whether that be through educational and professional development content or virtual town halls and forums.”

To further support the industry during this current health and economic crisis, the VMA is offering a 25% discount on Diploma and Single Unit Study enrolment fees for all VMA members.

The Diploma of Venue Management (10807NAT) is registered with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and delivered under a partnership agreement with Registered Training Organisation (RTO), Amina Academy Pty Ltd (RTO 31532). Amina Academy is responsible for the quality of training and assessment provided and issuing all qualifications and statements of attainment.

As the peak body for venue industry professionals in Australia and New Zealand, the VMA represents 300+ venues from diverse venue sectors including sports stadiums, arena, performing arts, convention and exhibition centres, racetracks, showground and festivals as well as suppliers to the industry.

The VMA is dedicated to the growth and success of the venue management industry in the Asia-Pacific region through professional development, education and collective sharing through networking. As a not-for-profit public company, the VMA is run by its members for the benefit of its members and to promote the venue management industry as a whole.
