Village Roadshow welcomes Sea World's recognition as Australians' most popular attraction

Village Roadshow Theme Parks has welcomed Sea World’s recognition as Australia’s most visited tourist attraction of all time in a survey that also listed Warner Bros. Movie World and Wet’n’Wild Gold Coast in the top five.

The Newspoll survey (first reported by Australasian Leisure Management on 29th May), found that 56% of all adults surveyed had been to Sea World making it the most visited tourist attraction of all time. Movie World came in at fourth with Wet’n’Wild Gold Coast in at equal fifth.

Village Roadshow Theme Parks (VRTP) spokesman Darrin Davies said the survey result is recognition that Sea World, Movie World and Wet’n’Wild are among the best theme parks in the world, stating “this is very special for us because this result is from the people who come to our parks. They have recognised that we are all about fun, entertainment and creating wonderful memories for the whole family.”

Davies said Sea World’s recognition as the number one tourist attraction was significant, adding “Sea World is Australia’s premier marine park and this recognises that we have a great mix of things to see and do for the whole family.

“This year we celebrated Henry the Polar Bear’s first birthday at Polar Pre-School. Henry has captured the hearts of everyone who has seen him and people just love coming back to watch him frolic and enjoy his surroundings. In December we introduced Storm Coaster the first combination water flume boat ride and roller coaster in Australia. At $20 million Storm Coaster is also believed to be the largest single investment in a theme park ride in Australia.”

Davies believes that VRTP's ongoing investment in their theme parks was part of their ongoing success.

Detailing this investment, Davies explained “we have just announced a new night time entertainment event ‘Carnivale’ at Movie World which celebrates the best of New Orleans and South American culture and features Movie World’s biggest ever parade, great Cajun food and amazing dancers and entertainment.

“Movie World will introduce a new attraction for kids - ‘Junior Driving School’ in September (while) Wet’n’Wild is creating Wet’n’Wild Junior on the Gold Coast - an all-new kid sized water park created especially for kids and families with nine slides and more. The Wet’n’Wild Junior area features kid-friendly versions of some of the park’s most thrilling attractions.

“It is thrilling to have three of the top five most popular tourist attractions including the number one position. We will continue to do everything we can to ensure people keep coming back year after year to have the best theme park experience possible.”

VRTP have just announced their new 2014/15 VIP Magic Pass which is expected to form one of the most important tourism offerings on the Gold Coast this year, attracting local, interstate and overseas visitors.

Davies concludes “we believe this is one of the best deals ever and is exceptional value, particularly for families with these exciting new additions and all the favourite rides and attractions that keep people coming back.”

The new VIP Magic Pass allows guests to visit Movie World, Sea World and Wet’n’Wild Gold Coast as many times as they like until 30th June 2015.
