Victorian Sports Centres Trust a 'world leader in Sport Facility Management and the Environment'
The MSAC Institute of Training's upcoming seminar on Sport Facility Management and the Environment will showcase Victoria's State Sport Centres Trust (SSCT) as an industry/world-leader in Sports Facility Management.
The Sports Facility Management and the Environment seminar, to be at Victoria's Sports House on 22nd October, 2010, during the Melbourne Sport and Aquatic Centre's Green Week (from 17th to 23rd October) will promote the environmental and sustainability initiatives that the SSCT has undertaken.
The seminar will hold a panel of experts including representatives from Sustainability Victoria, Total Energy solutions and a member of the SSCT's cleaning, catering, recycling and chemical providers. Speakers will discuss the learning successes and failures, giving other facility managers initiatives to take back to their own facilities.
As SSCT General Manager of Facilities Peter Murphy explains, "the State Sport Centres Trust has published a clear strategic objective to reduce its environment impacts.
"This commitment is not easy to achieve, and I believe that this seminar through the expert speakers and by providing an 'open book' insight into our experiences will greatly assist others in their environment management practices."
The major topics to be discussed will cover the SSCT Experience, Strategic Plans and Objective Setting, Environmental Sustainability Programs, and Energy Water Saving Initiatives.
The SSCT has demonstrated a commitment to the principle of continuous improvement in environmental management. Through this commitment they have initiated the installation of many procedures that have significantly reduced water consumption and electricity usage throughout MSAC and the State Netball Hockey Centre (SNHC).
In electricity usage both MSAC and the SNHC have achieved continuous reductions. In the period covering 2006-2008/09, MSAC decreased total electricity usage from 7,493,847 kWh to 6,890,332; an average decrease of 50,293 kWh of electricity per month.
