Vale: Michael O’Hara
Australasian Leisure Management is saddened to learn of the death of Michael O’Hara, who headed operations for many successful exhibitions and events in Australia, South-East Asia and New Zealand.
A statement from the Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) advised “the exhibition and event industry lost one of its true champions late last week, when Michael O’Hara passed away peacefully at home.
“He was diligent, direct, and always supportive of the teams around him. Michael headed operations for many successful exhibitions and events in Australia, South-East Asia and New Zealand.
“Michael had many other interests including his passion for dogs and a love for the motor industry - particularly the sound of a V8 engine.
“Michael formed many friendships in the industry over the years and he will be missed.”
Colleague Ross Ferrar said, “Michael was greatly respected in the industry for his pride in doing things well and safely, his immense knowledge and experience, his willingness to innovate and his dry sense of humour.”
Malu Barrios, Director of Event Services at ICC Sydney said “we will always remember Michael for his calm nature, kindness, experience, knowledge, and the respect that he accorded everyone.”
“The EEAA Board, staff and members pass on our condolences to the O’Hara family. We are grateful for Michael’s work and contribution to the exhibition industry.
“The family will have a private service. For those wishing to pay tribute to Michael, a Wake will be held on Wednesday 21st September 2022 at the London Hotel, 234 Darling Street, Balmain (in Sydney) at 12 noon.
“Fair winds and following seas.”
Rest in Peace Michael.
