V8 Supercars Series revs up its support of Surf Life Saving

V8 Supercars Australia is throwing its support behind Surf Life Saving, naming the organisation as the national beneficiary of the 2010 V8 Supercar Championship Series.

The partnership will see vital funds raised for Surf Life Saving through a number of fundraising activities held during the V8 Supercar Series, which includes races in the Northern Territory, Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania.

Surf Life Saving Australia Chief Executive Brett Williamson said this new partnership will help put vital rescue equipment on Australian beaches, as well as assisting the promotion of Surf Life Saving initiatives, stating "the V8 Supercar Championship Series is one of the premier sporting events in Australia, and we are proud to be associated with such a well-supported Australian brand.

"The proceeds raised at each V8 Supercar round will be invaluable in supporting and training our volunteer surf lifesavers across Australia.

"This contribution will ensure Australian beaches remain protected among the safest in the world."

V8 Supercars Australia Chief Executive, Martin Whitaker said the sport is extremely proud to be helping such a vital Australian service, stating "Surf Life Saving is an iconic Australian brand that continues to be there for beachgoers as they enjoy our magnificent coastline. This is a crucial service to our lifestyle and one that V8 Supercars Australia is honoured to support."

V8 Supercar driver, Karl Reindler is the sport's official Surf Life Saving Ambassador helping promote the partnership.

A delighted Reindler added, "being a very active person myself Iâm a big supporter of this partnership. In my spare time I regularly compete in Triathlons so I have a lot of respect for the training our Surf Lifesavers do to ensure they can help beachgoers when required.

"As a youngster, I grew up on the beaches of Western Australia, so Iâm thrilled to see V8 Supercars Australia supporting such a worthy organisation."
