Dreamworld on track with Doohan's motocoaster
Dreamworld's Mick Doohan Motocoaster has been one of Australia's major theme park successes of recent months. Launched in September by the five-time 500cc motorbike racing World Champion, the 605 metre-long motocoaster ride is the first of its kind in the country. It is also the only ride in the world to include life-size replicas of 500cc bikes, which reach speeds of 72 km per hour.
Each train on the ride, which has been sponsored by Honda, features 14 custom-made motorbikes and two sidecars for smaller riders.
Dreamworld Chief Executive, Stephen Gregg, recently stated that "we want to showcase Australian motorbike racing history and celebrate its victories, milestones and most importantly, its legends through theming, memorabilia and our Hall of Fame.
"Mick Doohan's Motocoaster is a great escape to adrenaline, fun, excitement and anticipation and will give riders a sense of accomplishment and freedom like never before."
Doohan added: "I'm extremely proud to be associated with a great Australian icon working on a venture that celebrates and pays respect to a great Australian sport and its achievements."
The ride is being supplied by Intamin.
