Tiling solution sets standard for Australian aquatic facilities
The new $45 million WaterMarc multi activity regional centre in Greensborough, Victoria is setting the standard for its tiling as well as impressive layout and unique facilities.
Opened at the beginning of September, the Banyule City Council facility features over 35 different tile types, imported, supplied and laid over by Ceramic Solutions.
The tiles, all from world leading German tile manufacturer AGROB BUCHTAL, included pool tiles and wet decks for WaterMarc's 50 metre competition pool, learn-to-swim and therapy pools; decorative wall mosaics within shower and change rooms; walkway tiles in the foyer, gym, cafés and stairwells; as well as a 2,600 metre² of granite pavers located outside as a pedestrian walkway designed to link the main shopping strip to the centre.
Ceramic Solutions' extensive know-how and expertise within aquatic centre redevelopments, has led the company to become Australia's primary single source supplier for all swimming pool tiles and pool accessories.
Ceramic Solutions prides itself on providing a complete tiling solution with the ability to service the many different floor and wall applications.
In the case of WaterMarc, during the planning stages, Ceramic Solutions continuously provided support by identifying fit-for purpose tiles.
Within such a large public facility with an expected 750,000 visitors per year, it was important to consider the floors ability to withstand wear and tear over a long term, such as heavy pedestrian traffic, cleaning chemicals and wheeled traffic. Ignoring these factors can have a detrimental effect on the floor, causing damage to the surface and creating an environment where slips are more likely to occur.
From Ceramic Solutions' analysis, durable slip-resistant tiles were supplied for the main walkways, providing the necessary safety, while in the bathrooms and change room facilities a balance between slip resistance and cleanability was essential.
Thanks to Ceramic Solutions range of 'HT' tiles, it provided the necessary easy-to-clean-surfaces, which not only eliminates unwelcome odours, but also has an antibacterial effect, reducing the need for harsh corrosive cleaning chemicals.
HT tiles are a specially formulated coating used within ceramic tiles that cleans air pollutants and decomposes bacteria and germs. AGROB BUCHTAL has refined the technology over the past 10 years and is now rated as 100% efficient and guaranteed for life.
Ceramic Solutions Managing Director Oliver Huss explains "WaterMarc was a great opportunity to showcase the range of tiling solutions we can provide both in and outdoors.
"As a 'one-stop-shop' we provide perfectly matched gratings, concourses, and pool tiles, but also have a tiling range that is unbeatable in terms of floor hygiene and easy-care."
With the company's advanced range of competitively priced tiles, Ceramic Solutions aims to grow the HT product, so in years to come, it will be in every hospital, commercial kitchen, shopping centre and leisure facility across Australia.
