The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW gets recognition for outstanding Risk Management Policies
The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW has been announced as a Finalist in the Vero Risk Management Advancer Awards for its outstanding commitment to risk management.
Australia’s premier risk management program, the Vero RM Advancer Awards recognise clients who demonstrate outstanding risk management performance throughout the year.
Recently commencing site-wide upgrades, the Society, which operates event organisation for Sydney Showground and the annual Sydney Royal Easter Show, aims to deliver ‘world-class’ standards in safety.
Recent advancements include; a new fire alarm system exceeding Australian Standards; instalment of new LED lighting across the site; ‘wear’ and ‘tear’ upgrades; and identifying ‘safe paths’ and improvement of ‘co-efficient friction’ for the safe movement of livestock and horses during the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
Royal Agricultural Society of NSW Chief Executive Brock Gilmour noted "the daily challenge for the RAS is to safely manage our guest’s experience across a number of dynamic events. In any given year we have almost 2 million guests who enter our site, not to mention the biosecurity hazard’s during the annual Sydney Royal Easter Show.
“Due to this, safe public entry to events is paramount; we need to understand crowd behaviour & crowd flow to keep everyone safe. To address this, we make sure our staff are experienced and have a detailed knowledge of the venue and access to the correct data. We work closely with the Police and SafeWork NSW, while actively managing risk in pre-event consultations with clients.
“The RAS has been at the forefront of event risk, specifically biosecurity measures for almost two hundred years and through the education of our staff, leadership commitment to safety and ongoing policy upgrades we will continue to go above and beyond to ensure our Risk Management policies are of the highest standard.
“With the considerable work that goes into maintaining such comprehensive risk management, it’s an honour to be selected as a finalist for his award.”
The judging processes aim to review some of the best risk management plans in Australia in a bid to continue to develop standards and recognise those at the forefront of the industry.
The Vero Risk Management Advancer Awards will take place on 24th October 2019, in Woolloomooloo, Sydney.
