Tender process underway for Leederville Oval $3.8 million major redevelopment

Leederville Oval, an Australian rules football ground located in the Perth suburb, Leederville, has received a $3.8 million funding commitment from the Western Australian Government towards a major redevelopment.

The tender process is underway by the City of Vincent with construction expected to begin in October and works estimated to be completed in March 2025.

Leederville Oval was re-named Sullivan Logistics Stadium in December 2023, as part of a sponsorship and naming rights deal with family-owned company Sullivan Logistics.

The ground is used as a home ground by two clubs: the East Perth Football Club and the Subiaco Football Club, both competing in the West Australian Football League.

The proposed upgrades to turf and lighting will deliver a Tier 2 venue able to host both AFL and AFLW games.

Stage one of the project will include:

  • installation of a new playing surface;

  • new irrigation;

  • replacement of goal posts, in-ground sleeves and the boundary fence;

  • installation of above-ground dugouts; and

  • installation of synthetic grass on the western boundary.

Stage two will see the installation of 1,000 lux broadcast floodlighting and a transformer upgrade, meaning WAFL and WAFLW matches can be played at night, providing more fixture options for the 2025 season.

Other contributions for the project have been secured from the West Australian Football Commission, the AFL, and the East Perth and Subiaco Football Clubs.

WA Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman advised "we've already seen the potential of this venue with the 2022 WAFL Grand Final attracting a record crowd of more than 16,000 people to Leederville Oval.

"This redevelopment project will provide much needed turf and lighting improvements to the home ground of the East Perth and Subiaco Football Clubs.

"It will also be exciting to see the venue able to attract AFL and AFLW games and further cement our State's growing reputation as a premier sporting event destination."
