Sydney Sports Management Group secures contract to run Bayside Council tennis centre
The Bayside Council in southern Sydney has appointed the Sydney Sports Management Group (SSMG) to operate its Mutch Park Squash and Tennis Centre in Pagewood as part of a 15-year lease arrangement.
Announcing earlier this month that SSMG would manage the facility, which includes four squash courts and six tennis courts, a Council spokesperson advised “Council’s arrangement with SSMG will ensure the continuation of existing programs including the local squash club.
“Council is confident its partnership with SSMG will lead to the ongoing development of this valuable community facility to meet the growing needs of recreational and professional sport in Bayside.”
In partnership with SSMG, the Council is working to transform this valuable community asset into a multi-purpose sports venue that can support school and social sport.
The Mutch Park Centre will continue to provide a range of options including casual bookings as well as programmed activities such as Tennis Australia programs HotShots and Cardio Tennis along with organised social play, evening competition, private lessons and group lessons.
SSMG will also invest a significant amount of capital in the Mutch Park facilities.
Commenting on the group’s new contract, SSMG Managing Director, Scott Riley stated “our Group will be investing a significant amount of capital in the Mutch Park facilities to repurpose this valuable community asset.
“The investment strategy will include refurbishment of the squash centre, resurfacing of courts and upgrade to fencing and LED lighting. In addition, the NSBC Group will provide subsidised transport for school sport and camps.”
SSMG also manages the nearby Haffron Park Tennis Centre for Randwick City Council.
The Group has also recently promoted Anthony Carlucci to the role of Head of Operations.
