Voyager Tennis and Sydney Sports Management Group partner to manage City of Willoughby’s tennis facilities
Voyager Tennis and Sydney Sports Management Group have announced that they have successfully partners to secure a contract to manage the City of Willoughby’s Willis Recreation and Sports Centre and Cleland Park Tennis facility.
Located in East Chatswood and Artarmon, Sydney Sports Management Group (SSMG) and Voyager Tennis were appointed to operate the community assets as part of a license arrangement following a competitive tendering process.
The experienced businesses already operate across multiple local government authorities across Sydney with their quality-of-service delivery evidenced by SSMG winning the 2018 NSW Tennis Club of the Year for the Chatswood Tennis Club and Voyager Tennis having been a 2019 finalist in the Tennis NSW Most Outstanding Club award category for their Voyager North Manly facility.
Commenting on the new contract, Voyager Tennis Managing Director, Ryan Henry stated “we are looking forward to providing industry leading tennis programming for the community across both venues and ensure the continuation of services.
“We will be working closely with all existing stakeholders and community groups to ensure tennis continues to thrive and grow in this lower North Shore area.
SSMG Chief Executive, Richard Price advised “SSMG and Voyager are delighted to be awarded the contract and looks forward to partnering with the City of Willoughby, Tennis NSW and develop relationships with the local Schools.
“We will work collaboratively with Council in the delivery of the 2020 Tennis Court Strategy and the Willoughby Open Space and Recreation Plan. This will be achieved by investing capital in these important community assets to ensure they meet the community’s expectations for many years to come.”
Scott Riley Managing Director SSMG and former touring professional added “we will be jointly investing a significant amount of capital in the facilities to repurpose these valuable community assets, including an upgrade to the Willis clubhouse, resurfacing of courts and upgrade to LED lighting.
“We will also provide the Northern Suburbs Tennis Association continued access to ensure the continuity of their long-established competitions. In addition, the NSBC Group will provide subsidised transport for school sport and camps throughout Willoughby’’
Willoughby Council is committed to providing high quality recreation infrastructure and services that will meet future demands of a growing community. Tennis and multi sports courts are an important way that the community can develop an active, healthy and socially engaged lifestyle.
SSMG and Voyager aim to support the development of The Willis and Cleland tennis facilities, activating both sites to become vibrant places delivering high quality, cost effective tennis and multi sports services that meet community needs at an affordable price.
