Sydney Showground wins award for having the best events team in Australia

The Sydney Showground has been recognised by the Exhibition & Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) for having the best events team in Australia - claimed top team honours in the Best Venue Team category at the EEAA 2015 Awards.

Competing against finalists Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island, Sydney Showground was awarded the prize for its work on the IUCN World Parks Congress in November 2014.

The event saw Sydney Showground transform for over 6,000 delegates from over 170 countries, who utilised 63 venue spaces in 21 different areas across 15 hectares.

The Congress delivered an estimated $34.2 million of economic activity into NSW.

Stating that he was thrilled for the team to be recognised with the highest of honours, Sydney Showground General Manager Peter Thorpe commented “I am so proud to be part of such a passionate team who work so incredibly hard with every event, and it’s satisfying to be recognised at the EEAA’s amongst such strong competition.

“Sydney Showground has just achieved a record year and we only plan to grow stronger, so we’re looking forward to all big and small events and challenges in the year ahead.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our great team at Sydney Showground for all their hard work and dedication, and congratulations on being crowned Best Venue Team for 2015.”

Part of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW, the Sydney Showground is a not-for-profit entity that directs profits back into supporting agriculture and rural communities in NSW.
