Sydney secures 2024 NRL Grand Final

The NSW Government has announced that it has reached an agreement with the Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) to host the 2024 NRL and NRLW Grand Finals in Sydney on Sunday 6th October.

Amid media speculation that the ARLC had been considering inviting bids to host the event in another capital city, an announcement from the NSW Government said the agreement brings “certainty to rugby league fans across the nation” the grand final will remain Sydney Olympic Park’s Accor Stadium. However, the one-year deal doesn't rule out the ARLC taking its prestige event out of NSW in the future.

With the 2024 season having started at the weekend in Las Vegas, the NRL new campaign is expected to deliver more excitement and entertainment with the Penrith Panthers vying for the first four-peat in the NRL era, and the first since the legendary St. George Dragons team of the 1950s and 1960s.

Commenting on securing the NRL Grand Final, NSW Premier, Chris Minns stated “the NRL Grand Final is one of our countries greatest annual sporting events and I can’t wait for a whole new generation of footy fans to get to experience it right here in NSW.

ARLC Chair, Peter V’landys added “confirming the 2024 Grand Final will be held in Sydney provides certainty to NRL clubs, sponsors and broadcasters - but most importantly of all, it’s exciting news for NRL fans.

“The NRL and NRLW premiership seasons will culminate at Accor Stadium on 6 October - and we can’t wait to watch it unfold.”
