Sydney personal trainer sentenced to minimum five year jail term for drug dealing

A Sydney personal trainer caught dealing commercial quantities of drugs has been sentenced to a minimum of five years prison.

Former Bondi Junction Fitness First Platinum personal trainer Lee Clark was under police surveillance for dealing cocaine, MDMA and steroids for several weeks before his arrest in March 2014.

According to court documents he was recorded instructing a contact to stop messaging him, and to only use written notes, because commercial drug dealer sentences had recently "gone through the roof".

He was also recorded saying that drug dealing was "risky" but that he believed if police raided him they would find "nothing".

When he was raided by Australian Federal Police in March close to $150,000 in cash was found, along with more than 60 kilograms of drugs, with an estimated street value of more than $500,000.

Phone taps also recorded the 43-year-old boasting about having five "employees" who sold substances on commission for him.

Clark's sentence follow him having pleaded guilty to five drug-related offences in July last year.

With time already served he will be eligible for parole in 2019.
