Surf Life Saving Australia’s Coolangatta Gold race event secures new naming rights sponsor

Shaw and Partners Financial Services are the new naming rights sponsor for Surf Life Saving Australia’s Coolangatta Gold race event as part of a three year deal.

The race, made famous by the 1984 movie of the same name, will be known as the Shaw and Partners Financial Services Coolangatta Gold, returning to the Gold Coast from 15th-16th October 2022.

The event will not only welcome a new naming rights partner in Shaw and Partners Financial Services but will also introduce new events including the Downwind Paddle that covers 15km between Burleigh and Coolangatta.

The 2022 Shaw and Partners Financial Services Coolangatta Gold will once again welcome competitors from across Australia and the globe with the 2021 event largely restricted to Queensland based competitors. 

Surf Life Saving Australia Chief Executive, Adam Weir, said Shaw and Partners Financial Services was a welcomed addition to the SLSA’s stable of partners.

Weir enthused “Surf Life Saving Australia is thrilled to welcome Shaw and Partners Financial Services to our marquee Coolangatta Gold event.

“The Shaw and Partners Financial Services Coolangatta Gold will return in 2022 with new events as well as the iconic racing that Australian fans have come to know and enjoy.

“This year we will also introduce the Downwind Paddle that is open to members of the public across all disciplines of Ocean Ski, Paddle Board, Stand Up Paddle Board and OC1 Outrigger Canoes.
