Surf Lakes secures debt financing partnership to develop Yeppoon wave resort

Gatehouse Hospitality’s capital financing division has been appointed to assist in facilitating a debt partner for the Surf Lakes Capricorn Coast attraction.

Gatehouse’s capital financing team, led by Anthony Ries, will arrange a tailored debt financing solution and advise Surf Lakes, a subsidiary of US-based Surf Lakes Global, on project financing for its state-of-the-art wave pool and integrated masterplan in central Queensland.

The development approved 37.18-hectare site will include a commercially upgraded Surf Lake capable of delivering 2000 rides per hour with waves up to 2.6 metre in height. The first stage of the development will deliver a resort featuring cabin lodging, dining, wellness, spa and yoga facilities, with scope for future development outlined in Surf Lakes’ approved site masterplan.

Announcing the partnership, Gatehouse Hospitality Chief Financial Officer, Anthony Ries stated “we are thrilled to partner with Surf Lakes Capricorn Coast to bring its world-first surf technology to life.

“Our team is committed to arranging a customised debt financing solution that will ensure the success of this innovative project.

“This appointment showcases Gatehouse’s dedication to driving growth and innovation in the global hospitality industry.”

The Yeppoon facility is already home to a full-scale prototype of Surf Lakes’ wave pool technology and has secured full local and state government development approvals. Surf Lakes unveiled new concept designs earlier this year.

Advising that the appointment marks the next step towards construction, which is on track to commence later this year, Surf Lakes Capricorn Coast Chief Executive, Lewis Glynn commented “we are thrilled to announce our appointment of Gatehouse Hospitality to the Surf Lakes Capricorn Coast project.

“Anthony and I have been working closely over the past few months to bring this partnership together formally.

“Gatehouse brings a unique capability with a proven track record in resort finance, advisory, asset management and operations.

“Their wealth of expertise positions us for an exciting and fruitful partnership.”
