Surf Lakes reveals new concept for Capricorn Coast resort

Surf Lakes Capricorn Coast Pty Ltd (SLCC) has unveiled new designs for its planned surf resort on Queensland’s Capricorn Coast.

Working with sports innovation agency Kinlab and architectural firm NBRS, the resort will feature a commercially upgraded Surf Lake at its heart - with the upgraded machine set to deliver an improvement in wave size (up to 2.6m face height) and length (up to 15-second rides), creating a playground of lefts, rights, reforms, and slabs for all ability levels.

While benefitting from an aesthetic overhaul, the machine will also be much quieter than the prototype, with the ability to run on renewable electricity.

SLCC, a subsidiary of Surf Lakes Global Inc (SLG), advised that the waves are also getting an upgrade with CFD-modelled enhancements to the bathymetry and a robust reinforced concrete lake bed. A state-of-the-art, efficient water treatment system will also be installed to ensure clean, clear water at all times.

The wholly owned 90-acre site has a masterplan approval granted for a variety of potential future uses, including:

  • Up to 250 bedrooms

  • Up to 100 camping or caravan sites

  • Festivals and events

  • Additional food and beverage

  • Retail

  • Skate park

  • Scuba pool

  • Renewable energy facility

Commenting on the project, Surf Lakes Capricorn Coast Chief Executive, Lewis Glynn stated “our vision is simple; to set new expectations for a surf experience and create memories that last a lifetime. With such a rich surfing heritage, we believe Australia deserves this facility.

“I am beyond excited to be showing a first glimpse of the newly proposed resort. Our design objective has been to curate an immersive surf and stay experience that best compliments the location.

“The location is close to our hearts. With tranquil surroundings and a tropical climate, we have hosted many private weekends for potential investors to surf and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Our only regret has been our restricted ability to share this experience with the public.”

Thrilled to have the project moving forward for investment, Surf Lakes Global Inc founder and Chief Executive, Aaron Trevis added “Surf Lakes technology speaks for itself.

"A playground of ocean-like waves, of varying difficulty, breaking simultaneously around the lake, so that everyone gets a break. It is such a blessing to see the project investor-ready.”
