Surf Lakes shares video of latest wave technology

By Nigel Benton

Surf Lakes Global Inc (SLG) has revealed new renderings and images of the latest developments of its wave technology.

Sharing a video on Instagram, the Queensland founded but now USA-based company the imagery shows how the look of its product in recent years, based on its unique wave creation technology.

The clip is a mix of real surfing footage with new renderings of the ‘plunger’ that sits in the middle of the body of water.

In May, SLG subsidiary Surf Lakes Capricorn Coast Pty Ltd (SLCC) unveiled its latest concept for the transformation of its prototype location on Queensland’s Capricorn Coast into a surf resort.

However, while the 36-hectacre site has a masterplan approval granted, no start date for the project has yet been given with the latest Instagram post advising that it is working to raise capital.

Asked about when the facility will open, the Surf Park Central website reported that a company spokesperson had stated “(it is often asked) when will you open …?

“We get it. You’ve been waiting for years, watching these great waves get ridden by pros and celebrities. These guys are necessary for feedback on the wave quality and publicity. Our circumstances have dictated that we keep it exclusive to this stage, but the plan is to get everyone affordably stoked.”

Still no opening date for Surf Abu Dhabi
As reported by Australasian Leisure Management in June, the much-anticipated Surf Abu Dhabi attraction remains unopened with no advice when guests will be able to take to its waves.

Originally scheduled to open as of late last year, operators of the attraction - which will use Kelly Slater wave pool technology - have failed to provide any advice as to when guests will be able to take to its waves.
