Supercars organisers ‘Confident of Strong Crowd Numbers’ through 2021 series

The 2021 Repco Supercars Championship draft calendar has been released, with the season to begin at Bathurst’s Mount Panorama on 26th February, running over 12 events through to December.

Advising that the calendar allows the best opportunity for fans and viewers after the 2020 season was affected by the challenges of COVID-19, Supercars Chief Executive, Sean Seamer explained “it is important to us to ensure the 2021 calendar features as much certainty for fans as we can provide given the current COVID-19 restrictions in each state and territory.

“We’re thrilled that next year we can deliver two events at Mount Panorama, including the season opener in February.

“We are still working with all government partners on fan limits for each event, but we are confident of strong crowd numbers across Australia and New Zealand, in line with the current loosening of COVID-19 restrictions.

“We think having three different event formats used in 2021 will build on what we’ve learned about our racing this year, so fans can look forward to thrilling weekends every time we race.”

As part of the calendar, the Supercars Championship will end with a finale on the Gold Coast’s Surfers Paradise in December.

In preparation of the 2021 season, all Supercars teams will have pre-season testing take place at Sydney Motorsport Park on 14th February, with Supercars still currently reviewing its general admission, grandstand, and corporate ticketing options for the season opening Mount Panorama 500.

After the COVID-19-affected 2020 season saw the cancellation of their scheduled races Perth, Tasmania, Victoria and New Zealand are set to feature again in the 2021 season, with every practice, qualifying, and race session to be broadcast live on Foxtel and Kayo, as well as six events on the Seven Network.
