Strong response to Lakeside Leisure's Master Facilities plan

Lakeside Leisure's Master Facilities Plan (MFP) consultation has received an extremely good response with 460 responses from a wide cross section of the Queenstown community representing 40 different local sports and organisations.
The majority of respondents have indicated they are in support of the QEC site continuing to grow as the Wakatipu sporting and recreation hub, although feedback on how to achieve this was more divided.
The majority of respondents also felt that either the plan would not meet future needs or that they were unsure if it would meet future needs.
Lakes Leisure Chief Executive Fiona McKissock said the information would allow both Lakes Leisure and Queenstown Council to consider direct community feedback.
McKissock stated "the objective of consulting with the community was to get a clear indication of what local people really want. We put up some ideas and options to test the waters. The Council will now be able to weigh the feedback together with financial considerations. The great thing is that so many people took the time to give us their thoughts so we can work on solutions that will work for our wider community long term."
Individual comments are currently being collated and a summary of feedback will be presented to Council for its consideration during their 10-Year Plan process.
