Star Gazing and Indigenous Story Telling at the Illawarra Fly

School holiday fun is being enhanced at the Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk with a program of Star Gazing and Indigenous Story Telling.

As part of the iFly 4 Kids program, NSW's only steel treetop canopy walk is holding 'Stars On The Fly' events from 17th to 20th April for children to learn about the night sky and to have fun in the treetop canopy.

Illawarra Fly General Manager Neredith Elliott explained "we are very excited to be opening the Illawarra Fly over the next four nights.

"We are almost fully booked and have some wonderful activities for families during the evening with the star gazing, story telling and family barbeques."

The Star Gazing program is being run after-hours this week, with each evenings events broken into four parts.

On arrival guests will enjoy a barbeque dinner followed by a special twilight guided treetop walk. Then the guests will be divided into three groups to participate in three sessions: Star-Gazing on the Fly, Spotlighting in the bush or Indigenous Storytelling.

The groups will rotate between each 30 minute session before meeting back at the visitors centre for a wrap-up.

Places will be pre-booked and numbers limited to 100 people per night over four nights. Each event will be hosted by a specialist in the area and guests are offered a rare opportunity to be part of the Australian rainforest after dark.

Elliott adds "this is an amazing opportunity to see the night view from Illawarra Fly plus also learn about the stars.

"Kids will be enthralled with the night sky."

Located in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, less than two hours from Sydney or Canberra, Merlin Entertainment's Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventures offers a unique way to experience the rainforest with breathtaking views from the Illawarra Escarpment overlooking the beautiful South Coast from Wollongong to Kiama.
