Stage Queensland Managers' Conference opens at Gold Coast's HOTA

Stage Queensland has commenced its annual performing arts conference this morning, exploring the sector's response to 'COVID normal' in an environment where delegates can exchange ideas and experiences on shared pathways to recovery.

The two-day conference, being held at HOTA (Home of the Arts) on the Gold Coast continues Stage Queensland's commitment to facilitating opportunities for performing arts organisations, producers, venues and presenters from across Queensland to come together.

The conference today allows the broader sector to join with Stage Queensland members for 'Industry Day' on for a day of discourse, connection, networking and professional development. Day two (on 15th June) is for Stage Queensland members to, according to organisers, "talk shop about venue management and operations".

The Managers' Conference is the first of three upcoming Stage Queensland events, with its Technical Managers' Conference following from 20th to 22nd June and its BOMNet Conference - covering box office and ticketing management - to follow at a date yet to be announced.

The former NARPACA (Northern Australia Regional Performing Arts Centres Association), Stage Queensland, a name adopted in 2017, has enjoyed a successful long-term relationship with the Queensland Government, the Australian Performing Arts Centres Association (APACA) and other similar state organisations, in both developing and delivering positive outcomes for Queensland’s and Australia’s performing arts industry.

The body explains "amongst (our) many significant achievements are the establishment of the organisation’s three annual conferences for industry and individual development of venue managers, technical staff and box office and marketing staff. These events are well supported by industry partners, government, producers, promoters, and key stakeholders who recognise the value and importance of Stage Queensland and the dynamic role it undertakes in connecting communities, artists and audiences."

At the end of May, former Queensland Deputy Premier and Treasurer Jackie Trad was named Chair of the Home of the Arts (HOTA) board.
