Sports Medicine Australia conference returns to the Sunshine Coast
More than 450 of the world’s leading sports medicine researchers and practitioners converged on the Sunshine Coast earlier this month for Sports Medicine Australia’s annual ASICS SMA Conference at the Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort, Twin Waters.
Visit Sunshine Coast’s Head of Business Events Ali Thompson said she was excited to welcome the conference back to Queensland and honoured to be a guest speaker, along Sunshine Coast Councillor Jason O’Pray.
Thompson noted “this is the second time the conference has been held here on the Sunshine Coast, which is a testament to our beautiful region and what we have to offer for business events.
“Here on the Sunshine Coast, we pride ourselves on radiating a sunny disposition, fostering a ‘sunshine state of mind’ in attendees, and enhancing clarity, productivity and tranquillity.”
This conference alone had an estimated economic value of over $950,000, with many delegates staying extra days before and after the conference to get the most from their trip.
Sports Medicine Australia conference and events manager Claire Taylor said it was a “stunning event in a stunning location”.
Taylor added “The 2023 ASICS SMA Conference was incredibly busy, with keynote sessions, masterclasses, showcases, speeches, workshops, symposiums, and presentations running concurrently in four purpose-built conference spaces.
“Delegates and presenters loved the venue, accommodation, warm welcome, professionalism of staff and especially the beautiful location.”
The conference was held from 11th to 14th October.
